It has been an exciting and transitional year for the Foundation. Continuing its recent practice, the Board made several grants to organizations familiar to its members in the form of active involvement or personal connection.
These grants into a variety of fields both honor the legacy of Ellis and Kathryn Phillips and demonstrate the Foundations continuing evolution. Supported organizations this year included: Boston Modern Orchestra Project, buildOn, Contemporaneous, The Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill, The Friends of Matnwa, Special Townies, Stringendo, Time and Space Limited, and the Upper Valley Land Trust. The buildOn and Friends of Matnwa grants represented ELPFs second and third grants in recent years to projects outside of the United States.
We also thank retiring long time Board members Clint Swift and George McCully for their many years of dedicated service and friendship to the foundation and wish them all the best. We likewise welcome new Board members, Paula Edgar and Spencer Blasdale, who bring with them a depth and breadth of knowledge and innovation. We are excited for the future of the foundation and look forward to continuing to serve as a "strategic spark" for pioneering organizations.
